It’s that time of year again when thoughts of the annual vintage mud fest are foremost in one’s mind, well, in my mind anyway. Next week sees the Great Dorset Steam Fair in full swing again at its vast site on the rolling hills of Dorsetshire. Although renowned to be horrendously muddy, as can be expected when thousands of people trample on rain-soaked stubble fields, on the last few visits it has been reasonably unmuddy and last year even the traditional wellies were unnecessary.

So, it’s make-my-mind-up time; well, I have a few more days to ponder before making the final decision. Shall I, or shan’t I?
